Development of Structures
We have attempted to increase the interest in our garden through the inclusion of a variety of structures that have been undertaken in recent years. This has largely been done with our own learned or developing skills.
Reticulated Water Course.
This extends the length of the backyard and meanders through gardens, down waterfalls, opening into ponds, and disappears underground at times. The intention was to create movement and sound in the garden, as well as life through the stocking of the largest pond with goldfish.

Croquet Lawn
This was an idea that developed from visiting many gardens together with what was seen as a need to have a level area in the garden. Being formal added another dimension to the garden.
Trellises
The River
Feature Walls
These were constructed since 2009 to secure privacy as well as providing added divisions in the garden.
The Green House / Fernery
This site has seen many functions. Originally it was the children's cubby house, sand pit, climbing frames, etc. It was then rebuilt into its present structure with the water course and the path was a boardwalk. With the deterioration of the boardwalk the green house became an avairy and now it has reverted to the walk-through fernery.
Sleeper Retaining Walls
Railway sleepers proved to be a very effective means of terracing sections of the garden.
Mirrors
These have proven to be a very effective means of adding interest and dimension to the garden.
Espalier
These espalier frames were added in 2010. The main intention was to make the partere garden more segregagted and to experiment with a different feature. Olives are being trained along the cables.
